Serving our community `ohana since 2006

Edible Forestry Workshop comes to Kaua`i April 25-26

Regenerations is proud to present a new 2-day workshop called Creative Agroforestry for Home, Farm, and Community Landscapes. It’s the latest offering from local agroforestry legend and ethnobotanist Craig Elevitch. Craig’s world-class publications and workshops on tropical pacific agroforestry practices and useful plants are well known throughout Hawai`i. True to form, he’s put together a new book on Creating Abundant and Resilient Food Systems specific to our conditions here on Kaua`i and the other Hawaiian Islands. This groundbreaking workshop will help the principles of the book come to life. The workshop will be held on April 25-26, 2015 at the Anaina Hou Community Park in Kilauea–home of Kaua`i Mini Golf.

Agroforestry landscapes, which have trees as a major synergistic component, are models of productive, low input systems that have sustained people for centuries in Hawai’i.  This workshop offers participants an introduction to best practices in establishing and maintaining a working agroforestry landscape tailored to their needs. Presentations combine traditional, modern, and local knowledge to enable participants to get started on their own systems, avoiding pitfalls. With a little knowledge and experience, the end result can be a landscape that provides high productivity, social & cultural values, and beauty, now and for generations to come.

Day One will feature interactive sessions and lectures from:

• Milan Rupert Nursery Manager, Kaua`i Nursery & Landscaping

• Dr. Hector Valenzuela UH College of Tropical Agriculture

• Craig Elevitch Director, Agroforestry Net

• Bino Castelo Botanical Manager, Kaua`i Mini Golf

• Matt Stevenson Livestock Extension Agent, UH College of Tropical Agriculture
